The Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189) allows highly skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, state or territory of Australia to live and work permanently in Australia. To apply for this visa under the point test stream, the visa applicant must first obtain a positive skills assessment for your nominated occupation. The next step is the lodgement of an Expression Of Interest (EOI) with the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA). If successful, the applicant will be invited to lodge a visa application. To apply for this visa, the applicant must first obtain a positive skills assessment for your nominated position. The next step is the lodgement of an Expression Of Interest (EOI) with the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA).
