The partner visas (Subclass 820/801 or 309/100) allow the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. The temporary Partner visa (subclass 820 or 309) is granted first, allowing the applicant to stay in Australia while the permanent Partner visa (Subclass 801 or 100) gets processed. Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300)
The prospective marriage visa (subclass 300) allows the fiancé of an Australian Citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to travel to Australia and get married. It is a legal requirement that the wedding must occur within nine months from the visa grant date. After the couple says "I Do", the applicant can apply for a partner visa.
